Product Description:

3-Mercaptopropionic acid (3-MPA) is an organic sulfur compound containing both a mercapto group and a carboxyl group in its molecule. It is an oily liquid and can be prepared using 3-chloropropionic acid or acrylonitrile and thiourea as raw materials. Due to the affinity of the sulfur in the mercapto group for gold, it is used in the preparation of hydrophilic gold nanoparticles.

Product Characteristics:

It is a colorless or light yellow transparent liquid, featuring dual functional groups of mercapto and carboxyl, with stable chemical properties but toxic in nature.

Application Area:

It serves as an intermediate for the pharmaceutical Fenalur and is also used as a stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Similar to thioglycolic acid, it can be used in transparent products, and its stability is excellent, surpassing that of other stabilizers. Additionally, it functions as an antioxidant, catalyst, and biochemical reagent. When applied as a chain transfer agent in polycarboxylate superplasticizers, 3-mercaptopropionic acid exhibits good stability and a long shelf life.
